Hello, my name is Shawn Lindsey and I am honored to be your Public Works Director. Welcome to the City of Athens Department of Public Works website. I hope you find what you are looking for, but if not please just give us a call or use our automated work request system.

Our Public Works Department is dedicated to providing the best municipal services to our community. We take our job of protecting the public from both our natural and man made environments very seriously. Public works includes many services that affect our daily lives such as the maintenance of our roads, storm water system, traffic lights, animal control, and we keep our city clean through our Sanitation Division and litter pick up program. Our Geographic Information Services and Fleet Maintenance Divisions are also under the Public Works Department and although you may not have direct contact with these aspects of Public Works their functions are crucial to the smooth operations of most city services.

Like me, I think you will find that the employees of the Public Works Department take pride in their work. Whether it be on the back of a garbage truck, shoveling asphalt, or answering phones we love being of service and keeping our community a wonderful place to work, travel, and live.
