TWC - Green Street Crosswalk Improvements
The signal light contractor, Progression Electric,
will begin installing an in-pavement lighting system on Green
Street / Highway 30 at the Tennessee Wesleyan College pedestrian
crosswalk. Individual lanes at this location will be closed
at varying times according to necessities of the installation
schedule.
This work will begin on: Monday, November 5,
2007 and continue until approximately Friday, November 23,
2007.
Most of the in-road work will be performed during
the night between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. to
minimize disruptions to motorists. Some work on the roadside
may be performed during daylight hours.
Motorists are advised to watch for traffic control
devices, pedestrians and work crews / flaggers.
The purpose of this work is the installation
of in-pavement lighting. This project will cause overhead,
in-pavement and advanced warning lights to flash when a pedestrian
approaches the crosswalk. The overhead lights will no longer
flash in a continuous mode. Motorists must realize that the
flashing lights will now positively indicate the presence
of pedestrians in or approaching the crosswalk and yield Right-of-Way
to the pedestrians as they cross Green Street.
