DETECTIVE DIVISION

The Detective Division of the Athens Police Department is responsible for investigating crimes that require special expertise, or intricate detailing. The Detectives investigate crimes that include, but are not limited to:

  • Serious Assaults
  • Property Crime (excessive dollar amounts or unusual loss)
  • Rapes
  • Child Abuse
  • Death by suspicious nature
  • Death by violence
  • Robberies
  • Hostage Situations
  • Kidnapping
  • Bombing incidents
  • Drugs/Narcotics

The Detective Division is composed of three POST certified non-uniform Officers.
