Nestled
in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Athens
offers a southern hospitality that grew during the years
in which it was a small agricultural center. Over the
years, Athens has grown industrially but has been able
to maintain the attitude that gained it the nickname of
“The Friendly City.” Please take a few minutes to browse
through our “virtual” city departments, link on to the
various government divisions, and “talk” to us via e-mail.
Whether you visit us through this website or in person,
you will find one of the finest cities in America. Newcomers
to Athens are always welcomed. If you are thinking about
relocating for personal or business reasons or if you
are just looking for a peaceful location to spend some
time, this site will give you a feeling for what we have
to offer. In order to experience the real Athens, we invite
you to come for a visit. We’ll be glad to answer questions
about our city or just sit and talk awhile. Either
way we think you will soon find out why Athens is “The
Friendly City.”
Thank
you for your visit.
We hope you’ll come again soon.
