Council Member Dick Pelley

 

Council Member Dick Pelley was first elected to a four year term on the City Council during the November 2002 election and was re-elected to serve a second term in November 2006.

Dick moved to Athens in 1991 and immediately began serving on several city committees prior to being elected to the City Council. He is married to Sylvia Pelley who teaches at Ingleside Elementary School. His one daughter, Jill, resides in Cleveland, Ohio with her husband Mike Burke. For his day job, Dick teaches at Tennessee Wesleyan College where he is a tenured Professor of Psychology. Dick has hobbies that range from reading a good mystery novel to playing an active game of racquetball.

Council Member Pelley currently serves as the mayor's designee on the Athens Regional Planning Commission, and represents the council on the International Relations Committee, the Southeast TN Trade and Conference Center board and is an ex-officio member of the Recreation Advisory Board.
