Sanitation

The collection of solid waste in Athens is a big job. Five full time employees, including the Sanitation Coordinator and four Heavy Equipment Operators, strive to provide the citizens and businesses of Athens the best service possible.

In 2009, Public Works collected 3,662 tons of residential solid waste and 5,677 tons of commercial solid waste. The pride car service transported 193.32 tons of waste and there was 29.79 tons of litter collected.

Athenians recycled a total of 4,167 tons of various materials in 2009.
