Mayor Hal Buttram

Hal Buttram was elected to a four year term on the Athens City Council in November 2006. In November 2008, he was elected Mayor. In November 2010, he was re-elected to serve another four year term on the Athens City Council and was re-elected by members of the City Council to serve another two year term as Mayor.

Mayor Buttram currently serves as the council's representative on the Southeast TN Trade & Conference Board. He is an ex officio member of the Recreation Advisory Board and is a member of the State of Tennessee Emergency Communications Board, Southeast Development District Board and SETHRA.
